After five wonderful weeks, we're back home. We had a fantastic trip in every respect. We learned about our coach, we learned that we really liked this way to travel, we met many nice people, we developed some new friendships and we enjoyed driving in our "beast".
As we recounted our trip, we had trouble thinking of the "best" part of the trip. Each place we visited brought fun, excitement and new things. Perhaps what we liked best was the relaxed aspect of traveling in a motorhome. Nothing was rushed, everything was "easy" and we just had one great time after another.
We're now planning our next trip, even though we've not yet unpacked from this one. We may go to the NC mountains; we may go to Maine, we may go out West to Yellowstone....we only just have to decide and then GO!
Something that surprised us, was the interest in our blog from our friends and family. Our daughter, Lauren, encouraged us to set up a blog and in fact set it up for us. Now we are hooked. It adds to our excitement and our trip knowing that someone out there may be watching and enjoying with us.
Thanks to all for your support and encouragement. We will likely post a few more pictures in the next week or so, then go "dormant" for a while until our next trip. And if you need help setting up your own blog....well give us a call...we've learned a lot and are happy to help.
All the best,
Paul and Maryellen
Manatees Video
Incredible. This was taken in a state park in Homosassa, FL. They had a glass sided room, placed in the middle of the spring. It was like being in the water with them. In the background you might be able to hear some kids chattering they were SO excited. It was really nice to see.
Distant
Mayo, FL
We are finishing up a wonderful visit with our friends Hank and Nelle at their beautiful home in Mayo, FL. We enjoyed riding around their 1500 acres and saw lots of birds, deer, rabbits, Sandhill Crane, and a huge Barred Owl. Of course the camera was never ready when we saw these things....
Nelle and Hank are great hosts and made us feel completely at home. They have invited us to come back and we will definitely do so....we had a great time visiting with them.
Crystal River, FL
Today we depart Crystal River, FL. It has been an excellent week and we have enjoyed it very much, despite the weather being less than perfect. We swam with the Manatees which was a wonderful and unique experience. The cold weather caused many, many more Manatees to be in the area and the fact that there were literally hundreds in the cove we visited was extremely unusual, and perhaps a once in a lifetime experience.
Homosassa Springs State Park was one of the best state parks we have ever visited. Great staff, well maintained, lots of different and healthy animals. Thoroughly enjoyable from the moment we got there boarded the boat and moved into "old Florida" as they call it. The underwater viewing area was amazing and we couldn't get enough of the Manatees swimming by the window as well as the large number of fresh fish of all sorts.
Rainbow River State Park was another excellent park....Crystal clear water, beautiful trees and peaceful, self guided hikes.
We will be back to this area again in the future.

Stepping stones??.....nope...Sleeping Manatees.
Looks like Rocks...these are all Manatees..... We
swam with the Manatees today. An UNBELIEVABLE experience. We were lucky enough to have a special day. Even the guides were amazed at how many there were. One of the guides said there were more than two hundred in a very small area.
Swimming with them was amazing...they are 12-18' long and several thousand pounds, but they are incredibly gentle. They seem to like human contact and come right up to you and right in your face to check you out. Hopefully some underwater pix we took will come out.
Well worth seeing and doing if you ever get a chance.
